Thiruvananthapuram: The discord between Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar and former Transport Minister Antony Raju has escalated, with Antony Raju expressing displeasure over not being invited to the inauguration of newly acquired double-decker electric buses. Expressing his dismay, Raju criticised the decision to hold the ceremony without informing him and changing the flag-off venue from Putharikandam to Vikas Bhavan KSRTC Depot.
Antony Raju voiced his frustration after discovering that he was not invited to the inauguration of the recently purchased double-decker electric buses. He accused the authorities of deliberately sidelining him and conducting the event outside his constituency to prevent his participation.
Raju highlighted the delay in flagging off the buses, questioning the reasons behind the prolonged wait since the initial announcement in January. He asserted that the decision to purchase 103 electric buses and two electric double-decker buses was made during his tenure as transport minister, following discussions regarding the Smart City initiative.
Describing KSRTC as his “baby,” Raju expressed his emotional connection to the corporation. He expressed pride in witnessing the realisation of these initiatives, likening it to the joy of a father witnessing the birth of his child. He said that the change in venue for the flag-off ceremony was not accidental, hinting at the political motives behind the decision. He also expressed confusion at the decision to hold the ceremony in a remote location instead of in the heart of the city.
