Thrissur: Around 20 activists from the Student Federation of India (SFI) were arrested for attempting to attack Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. The SFI activists were arrested in Iringalakuda, Thrissur, when they rushed towards the governor’s vehicle with a black flag.
The Governor came to Iringalakuda to participate in the 100th anniversary of Gandhi’s visit to the place. The SFI goons intercepted the Governor’s motorcade enroute to the town hall where the event was taking place. A heavy contingent of police had been deployed at the spot.
Earlier police had detained the SFI workers who were planning to protest against the Governor. They were taken into custody from the vicinity of the Iringalakuda bus stand ahead of the Governor’s event.
SFI workers also attempted to attack the Governor in Engandiyur, Thrissur. More than 10 SFI activists jumped in front of the vehicle with black flags. The police arrested 14 people, including two women, in the attack.
