Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan claims that a Popular Front-SFI alliance exists in the state. He said that he has received a clear report that those arrested in the SFI protest against him were Popular Front activists. The Governor was speaking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Governor said that the state government is trying to use the banned organization to confront him. A black flag protest was held against him at Nilamel and seven of those arrested in the incident are associated with the Popular Front. He alleged that all the attacks against him were all well planned ones.
The Governor also pointed out that Minister R. Bindu presiding over the recent Kerala University Senate meeting as the chairperson, is in violation of the rules. He clarified that he had not designated anyone to assume the position of chairperson for the Senate meeting. According to protocol, only if the Governor assigns the minister to chair the meeting can she rightfully hold the position of chairman and preside over the proceedings. The minister, in her capacity as Pro Vice-Chancellor, assuming the role of chairing the meeting, is in violation of the law. He said that Minister R Bindu has challenged the Supreme Court by doing so.
