The new block costing Rs 38.16 Crores…
The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan, a three-storey building constructed at a cost of Rs 38.16 crores, with 68,200 square feet was funded under the HEFA (Higher Education Financing Agency) scheme of the Union Ministry of Education. Initiated by the Central Public Works Department in 2020, the construction progressed steadily despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The design preserves the natural topography of the land while accommodating future university development plans.
Scheduled for relocation from the Gangotri Block, the entire administrative department will now operate from the new building. The first floor houses the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat and a Conference Hall for Executive Council meetings. Further, offices of Statutory Officers including the Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Finance Officer, and various administrative sections will operate from this modern facility, equipped with amenities such as Wi-Fi, a lift, and parking facilities.
University’s infrastructure development…
The inauguration of the Administrative Block signifies a significant leap forward in the University’s infrastructure development. Known for initiating the first Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) in the state, the university is also planning to introduce more four-year degree courses. In line with these developments, ongoing projects including the construction of hostels at a cost of Rs 35 crore, is nearing completion. Additionally, the library building, costing Rs 19 crore, is in its final stages of construction. Other recent infrastructure additions include a Health Centre, Guest House, Faculty Quarters, and a Common Dining Hall for Hostels.
