Palakkad: During a surprise raid conducted by the health department, 75 kg of stale fish were seized from a fish market in Cherpulassery. The joint operation, conducted by the health department and food safety department, took place on the Cherpulassery-Ottappalam road following numerous complaints received by the municipal health department.
Upon inspection, samples of fish were collected and tested in a mobile lab, revealing that some fish were a week old. Consequently, fines were levied on the shop owners, and the 75 kg of old fish were seized for disposal at the municipal waste yard.
Furthermore, municipal health department squads have been formed to conduct inspections in various institutions, including hotels within the municipality. Clean City Manager C Manoj Kumar and Public Health Inspector VP Jayaprakash, who are leading the inspection, have said that they will intensify searches within municipal limits in the coming days.
