Wayanad: A wild elephant was spotted in the residential area of Vattalakki, Attappadi in Palakkad last night. Local residents successfully chased away the elephant by using firecrackers as it ran through the residential area. Following this incident, the forest department’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) has initiated monitoring of the elephant.
Incidents of wild animal attacks are on the rise in the state. Three people have recently died in such attacks in Wayanad. It has been reported that Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav will be visiting Wayanad today to address the ongoing issue of wild animal attacks in the district. The Minister is expected to arrive in Wayanad this evening and will visit the homes of those killed in the wild animal attacks.
