Thrissur: Reports from locals indicate that a leopard has been spotted once again in Palappilly, raising alarms among residents. The leopard was sighted near the Elikkode tribal colony, where it reportedly attacked a calf in a plantation behind a house, leaving the carcass partially consumed. Officials from the Forest Department swiftly responded to the incident, initiating an investigation into the matter.
This recent sighting comes after several incidents of leopard attacks on cattle in nearby regions such as Echippara, Kundayi, and Valiyakulam just a few weeks ago. The repeated attacks on domestic animals in areas inhabited by plantation workers and near tribal colonies have heightened fears among the locals.
