Ernakulam: Former senior government lawyer PG Manu has filed a bail plea with the High Court in the case involving the rape of a young woman who sought legal assistance. Manu stated in the petition that bail should be granted due to his poor health. It is mentioned in the petition that due to increased diabetes, pus has formed in the area where a steel rod was inserted in his left leg during surgery, along with other health issues. Manu argues that since he has already been extensively questioned by the investigation team, he should not be interrogated while in judicial custody. Currently, PG Manu is in remand for the alleged rape of a young woman.
A case has been filed against Manu, who surrendered before Puthenkurish DYSP on January 31, under sections including rape and the IT Act. Additionally, a case has been registered against the lawyer for allegedly raping the victim again when she sought legal help from him. According to the complaint, the woman was raped both in the lawyer’s office and at home. The woman claims to have faced numerous threats after reporting the incidents. Evidence against him includes WhatsApp chats and audio conversations sent by PG Manu to the woman.
