Thiruvananthapuram: The police resorted to violence against a march led by Yuva Morcha activists against the recent violence in SFI dominated University College and also against irregularities in PSC exam which favoured SFI leaders to acquire government jobs.

The BJYM workers marched towards the Secretariat to protest against the government’s lapse in these incidents. The police blocked the activists in front of the gate, which led to a scuffle between the police and the Yuva Morcha activists.

The police soon resorted to spraying water cannons and tear gases. When the activists braved those attacks and stayed put, the police finally began beating up the activists brutally.

Several Yuva Morcha activists got injured in the lathi charge.

The capital city has witnessed days of violent protests against the government by student organizations. The protests began when a student was stabbed inside the University College by SFI leaders. The college is dominated by the communist student organization and the college is under the iron grip of SFI.

After the student was stabbed for singing a song inside the campus, many other students came out in the open to criticize the SFI leaders.

Ironically, the stabbed student, Akhil, himself is a SFI member. The incident at University College shows that once SFI gains complete control the big slogans of freedom and democracy goes down the drain.

Besides the violence, it came to light that many SFI leaders secured government jobs by manipulating exams of the  Public Service Commission.
