Thiruvananthapuram: Traffic restrictions have been imposed in Thiruvananthapuram city today as part of security measures in connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city. Police have issued a traffic advisory regulating traffic in the city from 7 am this morning to 2 pm. The restrictions will also be in place tomorrow (Wednesday) from 11 am to 2 pm.
Traffic regulations are advised on routes to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, Shanghumughom, Kochuveli, Poundkadavu, and the roads surrounding All Saints, Pettah, Asan Square, Palayam, Statue, Secretariat, and Central Stadium. It is also reported that parking of vehicles on the mentioned roads and sub-roads is restricted. The police have informed that vehicles parked against the instructions will be removed using the recovery vehicle.
For passengers heading to Thiruvananthapuram domestic airport, it is suggested to take the Venpalavattom – Chakkai flyover – Eanchakkal – Kallummoodu – Ponnara bridge – Valiyathura route. Passengers heading to the International terminal are instructed to take the Venpalavattam, Chakka fly-over, and the Ananthapuri Hospital service road at Eenchakkal.
