Thiruvananthapuram: During the Prime Minister’s visit to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), he was presented with a miniature model of Sree Padmanabhaswamy by ISRO Chairman S Somanath. The model was presented as a gift to the Prime Minister, who came to inaugurate various projects.
Prime Minister Modi arrived at the Indian Air Force Station Technical Area in Shankumugham, Thiruvananthapuram, at 10:45 am today. He was received by Minister GR Anil Kumar, the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, and other dignitaries. Accompanied by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Union Minister V Muraleedharan, the Prime Minister proceeded to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, where he unveiled projects totaling Rs 1800 crore in the Indian space sector.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi introduced the team behind Bharat’s pioneering manned space mission, the Gaganyaan mission, to the nation. The team includes Group Captain Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap, and Wing Commander S Shukla. The leader of the task force, Prashanth Balakrishnan Nair, hails from Kerala and is a fighter pilot specialising in Sukhoi fighter jets.
