Idukki: A herd of wild elephants has returned to the vicinity of Munnar following the tragic death of an auto driver named Suresh Kumar. Despite increased surveillance by the Rapid Response Team (RRT) after the incident, the elephants have come back to the Kannimala Top Division, where Suresh was attacked. Locals said there were three elephants in the herd. Residents have alleged that the forest department did not intensify its efforts to solve the problem, leading to an increase in wild animal nuisances in the area.
Last day, a wild elephant charged towards Suresh Kumar and his family, who were travelling in an autorickshaw. Suresh was killed in the attack, while two others in the vehicle sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
