Thiruvananthapuram: The Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana is a scheme launched by the central government to produce solar energy at rooftops of domestic residences. The aim of this scheme is to reduce the strain of paying exorbitant electricity bills for the poor and middle-class people in the country.
The scheme with up to 40 per cent subsidy for domestic consumers is in its final phase. Registration for setting up’ Purappura solar plant’ (rooftop solar plant) through this scheme will close on March 15, KSEB said.
Registration can be done through the website https://ekiran.kseb.in/. After logging into the website, select the suitable developer and plant capacity by entering the consumer number with the OTP received on the registered mobile number. KSEB will select from 37 developers empaneled through tender process to set up the solar plant. Only those who meet the strict criteria are empaneled as developers.
The consumer has to pay only the subsidized amount of the total cost. Only KSEB tested solar panels, inverters etc. are used for the project. It is an approved scheme that includes surge protector and earthing to ensure safety.
This scheme guarantees a minimum of 75 % performance efficiency. The plant is made available to be installed at the lowest price secured through tender. Five years of operations and maintenance (O&M) service is ensured by the developer for the plants set up under the scheme. The panels are guaranteed with a 25-year performance warranty.
