Kozhikode: Elamaram Kareem and Deshabhimani newspaper are spreading misconceptions and political agendas regarding the renowned “Virasat Mela” jointly organised by NIT Calicut and the SPIC MACAY Calicut Chapter. The programme, which aims to promote art and culture, has been misrepresented as “Veer Savarkar Mela” by the CPI (M) mouthpiece.
The “Virasat” programme, which has been conducted since 1995, is scheduled to be held at NIT Calicut in March. “Virasat 24,” spanning 17 days, promises workshops, lectures, and various cultural events facilitated by renowned artists.
Allegations surfaced that the Deshabhimani newspaper incorrectly reported the event as “NIT to hold Savarkar Mela,” linking it to the RSS, without understanding the meaning of “Virasat,” which translates to “heritage.”
