Kannur: LDF Convenor EP Jayarajan said that he used to advise his fellow inmates when he was in jail. Jayarajan responded to the media and said that he tried to correct the accused people who were in jail after being accused of theft. The CPI(M) leader said that it is necessary to correct those who have committed mistakes and guide them in the right direction, and the courts also clarify this.
“A number of people who were accused in theft cases were with me on the occasion when I was in jail during the Emergency period. While I was in prison, I advised them. I was simply looking for ways to improve their situation. In the history of India, Raj Narayanan and Jayaprakash were the ones who appealed for amnesty to bring about a mental transformation to the people who were in jail and give them a chance at life,” he said.
“There have been many political leaders who have tried to guide those who were in jail onto the right path. In some cases, mistakes may have been made. According to the Indian court’s legal system, if one can understand these mistakes, correct them, and live as a human being, it should be encouraged. There may be judges who think differently,” said Jayarajan.
