Wayanad: Two more accused have surrendered in the case related to the death of Siddharth, a student of Pookode Veterinary College, Wayanad. College unit secretary Amal Ihsan and another accused surrendered at the DYSP office in Kalpatta. Earlier, SFI College Union President K. Arun also surrendered to the police. With this, ten people on the accused list have been apprehended by the police. Eight people are still at large.
Arun surrendered late last night. He was the student representative of the college’s anti-ragging squad. The police are interrogating the accused in detail, and their arrests will be recorded today. Charges of abetment to suicide, assault, and violations of the Prohibition of Ragging Act have been leveled against the accused.
Siddharth is reported to have been a victim of unparalleled brutality. It is reported that he was brutally beaten and subjected to extreme mental torture. The leaders called Siddharth back home and made him stand naked in front of 130 students who were inmates of the hostel. An eyewitness said that similar attacks were common here before and threatened to kill him if he spoke out.
