Wayanad: ABVP is becoming the voice of the student community. There has been wide support for ABVP’s hunger strike demanding an inquiry into the death of Siddharth, a second-year student at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) at Pookode, Wayanad. Despite the scorching heat, many mothers were seen actively coming to the hunger strike venue, to show their unwavering support with ABVP’s protest.
It was observed that mothers took the initiative to assist in setting up temporary structures for the protesters and arranging additional facilities for them. They also provided firewood, blankets and pillows to protect the protesters from the cold weather in Wayanad. Even students unable to be present in person are expressing their support for ABVP.
Local residents and other attendees at the protest venue relayed accounts of the atrocities committed by SFI both within and outside the college premises. They said that SFI activists were engaging in such activities with the assistance of certain faculty members from the college.
Leading the hunger strike, demanding the arrest of the accused are ABVP state joint secretary Amal Manoj and district secretary Yadu Krishnan. ABVP state secretary and district workers have also visited the residence of Siddharth. ABVP said that it will continue with the strike until all the accused are arrested.
