Wayanad: All the accused involved in the death of Siddharth, a second-year student of Pookode Veterinary College, have been arrested. The latest to be arrested were Mohammad Danish and Adityan, SFI activists and students of the college. With their arrest, all 18 accused in the case have been apprehended.
Sinjo Johnson, the main accused in the case, was arrested by the police in the morning. The youth was apprehended by the police in Kalpatta as he was about to surrender. Siddharth’s father had stated that Sinjo was the one who inflicted the most severe beatings on Siddharth and presided over the brutal mob trial. The anti-ragging squad’s report also indicates that the SFI activists committed unparalleled atrocities against Siddharth.
Siddharth was found to have committed suicide in the hostel washroom on the 18th of February following the SFI mob trial. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prohibition of Ragging Act, abetment of suicide, and assault.
