Wayanad: T Jayaprakash, the father of Sidharth, a second-year BVSc (Bachelor of Veterinary Science) student who was found dead at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University campus in Pookode, Wayanad, refuted the arguments made by Veterinary College Dean, Dr. MK Narayanan.
Sidharth’s father clarified that the Dean had neither contacted them by phone nor visited their home. He added that the Dean visited Sidharth’s home only after a week, with police protection. Jayaprakash, Sidharth’s father, added that the Dean’s delay in contacting them, was unfair.
Jayaprakash mentioned that just before the Dean’s visit to Sidharth’s home, a police arrived and inquired whether any family members or relatives had objections to the Dean’s visit, as part of arranging protection to Dean.
Jayaprakash questioned why the Dean required police protection if he had no involvement in Siddharth’s death and was not protecting any accused. Furthermore, Jayaprakash noted that the Dean did not convey any information personally; it was conveyed through a postgraduate Veterinary student.
Jayaprakash emotionally stated that his son Siddharth was assaulted in the open courtyard of the hostel, with his cries audible up to a kilometre far. He found it unbelievable that the Dean, who also serves as the Warden of the hostel and resides just 50 meters away from the hostel, claims to be unaware of the incident.
Earlier, Dr. MK Narayanan stated that he became aware of the incident only on February 18, the day Siddharth died. Siddharth’s father strongly opposed these arguments made by the Dean.
