Thiruvananthapuram: BJP leader B. Gopalakrishnan reacted firmly against film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s stand in the Jai Sree Ram issue raised by 49 left liberal artists and activists in an open letter to the Prime Minister. The open letter condemned the mob lynching and pointed that the slogan Jai Sree Ram is a war cry now.
Noted film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan was also among the 49 signatories in the open letter. The open letter is biased against Hindus and says that the victims are Muslims and Dalits. The letter is an attempt to divide the country along religious lines by blaming every crime and mob lynching is an attempt by Hindus to terrorize the minorities. The letter, however, do not touch about instances when Hindus were the victims.
BJP leader B. Gopalakrishnan in a Facebook post exposed the fallacy of the open letter and asked Adoor Gopalakrishnan need to go to the moon to avoid hearing ‘Jai Sree Ram’. He said though Adoor is a respected film maker, he must not insult the culture of the country.
B. Gopalakrishnan also reminded the readers that Adoor Gopalakrishnan was silent when Mamata Banerjee was brutally suppressing those chanting Jai Sree Ram and when Pinarayi Vijayan suppressed the Ayyappa devotees. The film maker was also silent during the University College issue when a student was stabbed in the chest by SFI leaders.
The BJP leader also said that this is a month of Ramayanam and there would surely be chanting of Jai Sree Ram everywhere. He also added that if he is intolerant with hearing Jai Sree Ram then he can go to the moon.
Chanting Jai Sree Ram is a democratic right and if it needed will be chanted in front of Adoor’s house. He said that if Mahatma Gandhi was living he would have done a Satyagraha in front of the filmmaker’s house.
