Ernakulam: In a significant development preceding the Lok Sabha elections, the Crime Branch of the Kerala Police has filed a charge sheet against Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President K Sudhakaran in the Monson Mavunkal fake antique fraud case. In this case, Sudhakaran has been charged as the second accused, while fake antique dealer Monson Mavunkal is the first accused.
Former Congress leader Ebin Abraham is listed as the third accused in the same case. The charge sheet has been filed in the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court.
The investigation team found that the complainant had handed over Rs 25 lakh to Monson Mavunkal, of which Rs 10 lakh was transferred to Sudhakaran. Sudhakaran has been charged because, despite being aware that Monson Mavunkal was a bogus doctor, he attempted to conceal it. He faces charges of conspiring to misrepresent the fake antiques found in Monson Mavunkal’s house as genuine.
Sudhakaran is charged under IPC Section 420 for cheating and IPC Section 120B for criminal conspiracy. It’s noteworthy that the charge sheet against Sudhakaran coincides with his preparation to contest from Kannur in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
