Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has strongly criticized the left-wing student organization, SFI, over the death of Siddharth, a second-year student of Pookode Veterinary College, Wayanad. The Governor stated that it was not only at Pookode University where the atrocities of SFI were taking place, but also that other university hostels in Kerala were hotbeds of SFI’s violent activities.
Governor said that action was taken against the Dean and the Assistant Warden after they were found of wrong doing. He also added that the accused were not only those who were arrested in the case, but also those who knew about the incident and kept silent without reacting.
It cannot be said that Siddharth’s death was due to ragging. It is a murder, the Governor said. He added that according to the post-mortem report, the youth was starved to death. The Governor further mentioned that in each university, SFI activists have converted a hostel into their headquarters, and even the college authorities are afraid to go there. He also noted that SFI and PFI work together adding that he had received reports that some of these people were also involved in the death of Siddharth.
