Palakkad: The Forest Department has intensified surveillance in hilly regions due to the increasing risk of forest fires and wildlife conflicts amidst worsening summer conditions.Employing drones, forest authorities have tightened inspections in the Panchayats of Kottoppadam, Alanallur, Thenkara, Karimba, and Thachampara, falling under the Mannarkkad forest range.
Currently, the Forest Department has focused its attention on conducting inspections in the Attappadi and Agali regions. Drone surveillance has been particularly heightened in areas susceptible to forest fires and where wildlife may migrate due to rising temperatures.
The Forest Department plans to maintain drone surveillance until the end of March, employing multiple drones with a range exceeding five kilometers to monitor the terrain effectively.
