New Delhi: Padmaja Venugopal, the daughter of late Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Kerala, K Karunakaran is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday. According to reports, she will come to the BJP headquarters at New Delhi today and accept the party membership. The decision follows a meeting with senior leaders including BJP National President JP Nadda.
With Padmaja joining the BJP, it is speculated that the political landscape in Kerala will undergo a significant change. The continuous neglect from the Congress party leadership and the change in the Congress’s stance led Padmaja Venugopal to join the BJP.
Padmaja is also the leader who contested from the Thrissur constituency in the last two assembly elections on behalf of the Congress. Padmaja Venugopal’s entry into the BJP at the threshold of the Lok Sabha elections, it will be a heavy blow for the Congress.
