Idukki: The elder brother of slain SFI leader M Abhimanyu, Parijith, expressed shock over the disappearance of crucial documents, including the charge sheet, related to his brother’s murder case. Requesting a thorough investigation into the matter, Parijith emphasised the gravity of the situation, stressing the need to uncover those responsible and reveal their motives to the public. Speaking to Janam TV, he urged authorities to promptly recover the missing documents and initiate the trial proceedings without further delay.
The documents, submitted by the Ernakulam Central Police to the Ernakulam Sessions Court three months ago, went missing. Among the missing items are crucial pieces of evidence such as the 5,000-page charge sheet, post-mortem report, witness statements, and injury certificate. Despite extensive efforts to locate the documents, they remained untraceable, prompting the Sessions Judge to notify the High Court regarding the issue. The charge sheet in the case was filed on September 26, 2018, following the demise of Abhimanyu on July 2, 2018, amid a clash between SFI and Campus Front of India (CFI) activists over sticking posters at Maharajas College, Ernakulam.
According to the charge sheet, Abhimanyu fell victim to a brutal attack orchestrated by Popular Front of India (PFI) terrorists who entered the campus armed with weapons. Among the assailants, Nettur Mekat Sahal Hamza (25) stabbed Abhimanyu. In a notification issued by the central government banning the Popular Front, the Abhimanyu murder case was included among the crimes that led to the ban. The case involves a total of 26 accused and 125 witnesses.
