New Delhi: Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay is scheduled to visit Bharat from March 15-16, marking his inaugural official overseas trip since his re-election. Tobgay assumed office as the Prime Minister of Bhutan for the second time on January 28. Plans to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and promote economic growth in Bhutan will be discussed. He will meet with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders during his visit to Bharat.
Bhutan is currently facing significant economic challenges. Tobgay’s visit to Bharat is particularly crucial amidst China’s interference, which has worsened the country’s crisis. Discussions with the Prime Minister will revolve around local issues and strategies to raise funds for the country’s economic stimulus.
Bharat, as Bhutan’s primary development partner, plays a crucial role in Bhutan’s socio-economic development, contributing significantly to its Five-Year Plans and supporting over 600 projects in the country. Recently, Bharat extended its support to Bhutan by providing an economic stimulus package of Rs 15 billion. Tobgay mentioned that this support will be utilized to bolster tourism, technology, and small-scale industries.
