Thiruvananthapuram: Discontent has surfaced within the Left Democratic Front (LDF) following the death of Siddharth, a student at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University campus in Pookode. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) voiced its criticism during a party meeting, emphasising the need to prevent such incidents from recurring in Kerala’s colleges. RJD called for strict measures to be imposed on the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) to forestall future occurrences. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister remained silent on the issue during the meeting.
Siddharth’s family is scheduled to meet with the Chief Minister today, pressing for a CBI probe into Siddharth’s demise. Siddharth’s death has been linked to the violent politics within the SFI, with accusations pointing towards the CPI (M) for protecting the accused. Siddharth was discovered dead in the hostel’s washroom on February 18, 2024.
