Thiruvananthapuram: The family of Siddharth, a student at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University campus in Pookode, is pressing for a CBI probe into their son’s death. Siddharth’s father, addressing the media, revealed that the Chief Minister has accepted their demand.
He expressed doubts surrounding his son’s demise and added that he discussed it with the Chief Minister based on the postmortem report. The father expressed hope for justice and emphasised the importance of preventing such incidents in the future.
Accusing the dean and the assistant warden of involvement in the case, Siddharth’s father demanded their dismissal from service and urged for murder charges to be brought against them, citing clear evidence. He talked about a series of suicides and accidents on the university campus since 2019, calling for a thorough investigation by the police.
There are allegations that influential figures are shielding the accused, which has heightened pressure on officials. Siddharth’s father said that, because of this, they demand a CBI investigation. According to him, individuals named Akshay and Rohan are also involved in Siddharth’s death. Also, he said that Rohan, being the son of gynaecologist Bindu Sundar of Nedumangadu District Hospital, may have influenced the authorities. He asserts that Akshay is not merely a witness and should also be charged with murder under Section 302.
The family noted widespread support for justice from various quarters, except from a political party. The family had not revealed the name of the party. Also, a new suspect named Devarag, another friend of Siddharth, has also been included in the report by the police, though the police have yet to locate him.
