Thiruvananthapuram: There is tacit understanding between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Fornt (UDF) to suppress the growing popularity of the BJP in Kerala. This was evident in the shuffling of proposed candidates by UDF in many constituencies, said the senior BJP leader and MP Prakash Javadekar while talking to media in Thiruvananthapuram.
Javadekar said that MP K Muralidharan has been brought in from his constituency, Vadakara, to contest from Thrissur replacing sitting MP TN Prathapan. Shafi Parambil is now the candidate of UDF from Vadakara. According to Javadekar, this is a straight understanding between the LDF and UDF to bring in maximum benefit for each other in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections against the BJP.
He also said that in many other states of Bharat like in Tamil Nadu, Tripura and in Kolkata, the LDF and UDF openly show their partnership but in Kerala they are fighting a mock battle with each other. He said that the people of Kerala now know that the fight is not real. The people now understand that the fight is not for them or for any ideology. Both the fronts are delving more into corruption and crime in Kerala, said the BJP leader.
Javadekar also mentioned that the claim of the left government in Kerala that the Centre is not helping them financially is not true. He said that they are blaming the Centre, only to cover their own failure. As per the norms of the Finance Commission, Kerala is eligible to borrow only Rs 32, 000 crore in 2024. But the Centre has provided Rs 48,000 crore to Kerala which is Rs 16,000 crore more than the eligibility limits. The extra amount has been provided to Kerala in the form of grants and devolutions.
So the state, crying of the injustice of the Centre towards the distribution of funds to Kerala is false, said Prakash Javadekar. The BJP leader stated that borrowing limits are decided as per the Finance Commission’s norms which is applicable to all states. Hence there is no question of allocating funds to states differently.
