Thiruvananthapuram: Amid escalating controversies, the Chief Minister of Kerala has come forward to defend himself against allegations of poster placement in ration shops. The Chief Minister’s Office refuted claims, asserting that no directives were issued to display posters in ration shops.
According to a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office, it was highlighted that Kerala boasts the nation’s best public distribution system, a fact ingrained in the minds and experiences of its people. Furthermore, the release stressed that there is no necessity to reinforce this through branding efforts.
However, shopkeepers have reported pressure from rationing inspectors to display posters featuring the Chief Minister and the Food Minister. These posters have already been distributed, with inspectors verbally warning that failure to comply would result in checks and potential consequences.
The posters, featuring the slogan ‘one country one ration card’ alongside ration allocation details for cardholders, are mandated for display. Despite the presence of information boards displaying ration allocations outside shops, shopkeepers are now compelled to display additional posters.
