Palakkad: The body of a police officer at A. R. Camp, Kumar, was discovered on the railway tracks two days before. Today, his family filed a complaint to investigate the mysterious circumstances that led to the suicide. They accuse that Kumar had to endure caste discrimination while in the police camp.
An investigation has been ordered in to the incident after the family filed the complaint which will be led by a Special Branch Dy. SP.
Kumar’s wife alleged that the police officer, who belongs to a lower caste, was under severe pressure after being mentally tortured by senior police officers. She said that the police camp followed caste discrimination and that her husband was hurt because of the discrimination.
The District Police Chief also confirmed that Kumar had psychological problems and was on leave for two weeks without permission. Kumar was served a show cause notice for his absence. The police chief also said that the investigation will look into if there was any caste discrimination inside the police camp.
