New Delhi: Despite facing a severe financial crunch, the Kerala government has refused the central government’s proposal to provide Rs 5,000 crore in aid, citing it as insufficient. The Centre has informed its intention to the Supreme Court that it will disburse the promised amount this month and adjust it against the next financial year’s limit.
The Central government proposed that Kerala should devise a strategy to address its financial crisis. However, Kerala contends that such a stance from the Centre undermines its right to procure loans. In response, the court has instructed the Kerala government to evaluate the viability of acquiring the promised Rs 5,000 crore from the Centre. A comprehensive hearing on the matter is scheduled for next Thursday.
