Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress party leaders from Thiruvananthapuram have joined the BJP. Former President of the Sports Council and Congress leader Padmini Thomas, along with former DCC General Secretary Thampanoor Satheesh, are among those who have joined the BJP.
Padmini Thomas served as the President of the Sports Council during the UDF government and had close ties with former Chief Ministers of the Congress, including K Karunakaran and Oommen Chandy. She also held the position of state president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee’s sports forum. Additionally, her son has also joined the BJP.
Thampanoor Satheesh, along with other former DCC members, has also joined the BJP.
The leaders accepted the membership by visiting the Election Committee Office of the BJP in Thiruvananthapuram, accompanied by Kerala state BJP President K Surendran. The Union Minister and Thiruvananthapuram NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar also attended the programme.
Padmini Thomas secured a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay and a bronze medal in the 400 meters during the 1982 Asian Games.
