Thodupuzha: The body of Rajkumar, killed in police custody, will undergo re-postmortem tomorrow after being buried for 37 days. The postmortem is part of the judicial investigation to look into the circumstances of his death while in police custody.

The Judicial Commission, Narayana Kurup, said that the proceedings will begin at 10 am tomorrow at Kanjirapally General Hospital.

Rajkumar was arrested as part of a cheating case died on 23 June while in Police custody. The postmortem revealed that Rajkumar died from pneumonia after being tortured by four police personnel. The Crime Branch report also says that Rajkumar was tortured brutally.

Sub Inspector Sabu and Civil Police officer Sajeev Anthony, who were involved in the crime, have been arrested by the Crime Branch.

The brutality of the police force in the state is appalling. The government has failed to discipline the forces and their lapse and cruelty is being repeated. Interestingly, the police force is the responsibility of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who handles the home ministry too.
