Thiruvananthapuram: The central government has slashed the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas announced this reduction yesterday night. As a result, the new prices for petrol in Thiruvananthapuram city will be Rs 107.55, while diesel will be Rs 96.42. The public has welcomed this move, seeing it as a much-needed relief.
The decrease in fuel prices will significantly alleviate the economic burden on Malayalees who are grappling with severe financial crises. It’s worth noting that this action from the central government comes at a time when people are struggling with additional taxes imposed by the state government. Earlier, on International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Modi had announced a reduction of Rs 100 per cylinder in the price of cooking gas.
