Thiruvananthapuram: Allegations against SFI are intensifying in the case of Shaji, one of the judges of the ‘Margamkali’ competition at the Kerala University Youth Festival, who was found dead at his house in Kannur. Several evidence have been found indicating that Aromal, the former area secretary of Neyyatinkara who was expelled by SFI, volunteered at the Kerala University Youth Festival. Aromal is accused in multiple criminal cases, including stabbing cases.
These developments arise amid allegations that former SFI members are involved in bribery during the University Youth Festival. Aromal’s presence in the area where the Margamkali judges were assaulted adds mystery to the case. SFI Central Committee member Akshay has lodged a complaint with CPI(M) Kerala State Secretary MV Govindan that former SFI leaders offered Rs 5 lakh to influence the judges of youth festival competitions.
According to the latest information, several evidences are emerging against SFI’s involvement in Shaji’s death case.
Eyewitnesses also revealed that SFI members locked the Youth Festival judges in a room for several hours and assaulted them. Dance teachers Jomet Michael and Sooraj, who were allegedly accused in the bribery case, revealed that a team of SFI members headed by SFI Joint Secretary Anju Krishna, Vice President AI Akshay, and Thiruvananthapuram district President NA Nandhan locked them in a room, thrashed them, and humiliated them.
Jomet added that after the ‘Margamkali’ dance competition’s result was announced, SFI members dragged the three of them to a room, shouting, “How dare you announce a KSU-ruled college winner in an SFI festival?” and started thrashing them. Both the judges revealed that Shaji was beaten with a cricket bat and hockey sticks.
