Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram NDA candidate and Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar expressed surprise, stating that there has been no development in the coastal areas of Thiruvananthapuram and Kerala for the past decades. He said that even though the two fronts have been ruling Kerala alternately, nothing has been done to improve the living standards of the fishermen..
Rajeev Chandrasekhar discussed several issues that local residents are facing in Pulluvila, Neyyattinkara. He visited Priest Antony SB at St. Jacob’s Forane Church in Pulluvila. He assured the coastal residents that the Vizhinjam International Port project in Thiruvananthapuram would not pose difficulties for them and emphasized that the Modi government is committed to working with coastal communities for inclusive development.
Despite being the first Higher Secondary School in Neyyattinkara, situated in Pulluvila, the school lacks basic facilities to this day, which heavily affects regional students who rely on it for their education. Currently, the school offers only two Higher Secondary courses, further impacting the education of children from the fishing community. In response to concerns raised by the Priest, Rajeev Chandrasekhar assured that the Central government would consider the demand for additional Higher Secondary courses with technical skills to provide more employment opportunities.
He also noted the lack of employment opportunities in the coastal region and promised to find solutions for the issue. Rajeev Chandrasekhar had visited areas previously affected by sea surge and assured residents that he would convey their concerns to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and work towards swift solutions.
