Thiruvananthapuram: BJP Kerala State President K Surendran lashed out at CPI(M) for the violent activities in Kerala campuses. Surendran stated that brutal attacks and ragging are taking place in campuses across Kerala. He added that CM Pinarayi Vijayan and the CPI(M)-led government should be held accountable for the inhumane violent activities on Kerala campuses.
Surendran accused CM Pinarayi Vijayan and his son-in-law, State Public Works Minister PA Mohammed Riyas, of corruption.
Surendran questioned the Kerala police’s negligence in the case of Shaji, one of the judges of the ‘Margamkali’ competition at the Kerala University Youth Festival, who faced assaults from SFI leaders and was later found dead at his house in Kannur. Surendran pointed out that SFI members are working illegally in the Senate Chamber of the University of Kerala and accused them of keeping weapons for attacking.
Surendran remarked that the SFI goons exhibit all the qualities of a terrorist organization. He urged the police to take action on those involved in Shaji’s death case. He criticized the complete failure of law and order in the state and called for the closure of the ‘assault rooms’ used by SFI for interrogating and assaulting other students on Kerala campuses.
Surendran recalled the Prime Minister’s statement about universities and colleges in Kerala being dominated and monopolized by SFI goons. He suggested that authorities are attempting to suppress Shaji’s case similarly to Siddharth’s death case at Pookode Veterinary University.
Surendran also questioned the police for not taking custody of the Employees Union officials involved in Shaji’s death case.
