Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) is all set to conduct the exam for the post of Panchayat Secretaries even if there is no vacancy. While the hearing of the complaints of the employees to get promotion to the post of Gram Panchayat Secretaries is under the consideration of the court, thousands of people will now write the PSC exam for the same post, on the 13th and 27th of next month.
It is reported that there are a group of junior officers in the local department who are awaiting promotion to the post of Panchayat Secretary. They have approached the tribunal against the conduct of the PSC and the judgment of the court was to schedule the hearing within 2 months to hear the arguments of the complainants.
If the verdict comes in favour of the complainants, only 40% of the total vacancies will be allowed to be filled with the newly appointed. The remaining 60% of the vacancies will be filled as promotion from the department. In spite of this situation, the PSC is deceiving the candidates by accepting thousands of applications.
There have been many complaints against the PSC recently. Candidates who are on hunger strike in front of the secretariat for not getting jobs despite having their name in the rank list are also victims of PSC. PSC which had affirmed the court that it will announce the result of Divisional Accountant Examination within three months has not announced the result even after 9 months.
