Kochi: In a huge relief to DGP Jacob Thomas IPS, who was suspended from service by the Kerala government, the Central Administrative Tribunal has rejected the government’s suspension order. The Tribunal also ordered that Jacob Thomas must be reinstated soon and a post befitting of his seniority and rank must be given.
The Central Administrative Tribunal’s decision comes after Jacob Thomas approached the Tribunal for justice claiming that he was being suspended for no valid reason.
After the verdict, Jacob Thomas said that he hopes that the Central Government will now take the right decision in the case.
He said that he was hounded for speaking against corruption by the Communist government of Kerala. According to the government service law, there is no provision to suspend a person continuously by showing various reasons.
The former Vigilance Director was a victim of political vendetta and person enmity by the CPI(M) led government of Kerala. He was first suspended for his comments against the government in 2018 during the Okchi disaster that struck the coastal areas of Kerala.
Jacob Thomas had said that there was lapse from the government after the disaster and it failed even to get the number of those died. He accused that the dead were poor fishermen and that was why the government was not taking interest.
He also said that the law and order situation has collapsed in Kerala. His strong words against the government earned him their hate and reprisals.
He was again suspended for writing a book without the government’s permission.
Recently, Jacob Thomas’ politics was also condemned by communist activists in the state. His support for RSS and his attendance at a Gurudakshina program was too much for the left liberal and communist crowd.
