Thiruvananthapuram: NDA candidate for Thiruvananthapuram, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, offered a helping hand to Lizzy, a polio-affected resident of Rajaji Nagar Colony, Chenkalchoola, Trivandrum. Lizzy was relieved when Rajeev Chandrasekhar assured her that he would take steps to recover her mortgaged house.
Lizzy, who was affected by polio at the age of two and a half, earned a living through a small business. The 40-year-old had to mortgage the house after the business suffered losses. Additionally, Lizzy mentioned that she had a loan of Rs 2.5 lakh from a private lender, and the repayment stopped when the business closed down. Lizzy came to meet Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar in an electric wheelchair. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, upon meeting Lizzy and inquiring about her situation, assured her of taking necessary action.
On a recent visit to Rajaji Nagar Colony to meet voters, Rajeev Chandrasekhar listened to the residents’ grievances. They expressed disappointment, stating that they had not benefitted from the governments of the Left and Right Fronts. Most of the people in the area do not even have decent housing. During rainy seasons, dirty water rushes into their houses. They also urged the candidate to find a permanent solution to waste disposal.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that with this election, there would be significant changes in Thiruvananthapuram and all grievances would be resolved. He emphasized that people wanted a change this time, noting that Communists and Congressmen would each make promises during the election, only to forget about them afterward. Chandrasekhar assured the residents that he was different and would fulfill his commitments, offering it as his guarantee. He visited all the houses in the colony.
