Attari: Breaking the traditional border ritual, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers personnel did not exchange sweets and greetings on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day at Attari-Wagah Border in Punjab.
Amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan over the abrogation of Article 370, the Pakistani Rangers showed reluctance to share sweets although BSF personnel were willing to exchange sweets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
Pakistani Rangers on Sunday informed BSF personnel that there would be no exchange of sweets on the occasion of Bakrid this year.
It has always been a tradition between the border guarding forces to exchange sweets on religious and national festivals of the two countries, except when the diplomatic relations were low.
