Manama: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met the Crown Prince of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as part of his three-nation visit and discussed ways to strengthen the friendship between India and Bahrain, with a focus on business relations and cultures exchange.

And with this Modi became the first Prime Minister to visit Bahrain from India.

Modi is slated to visit the Shreenathji Temple today before departing to attend the G7 summit in Biarritz. He had made a special first purchase using the RuPay card in the UAE on Saturday to offer ‘prasad’ at the temple in Manama on Sunday. Thus the UAE became the third country to launch RuPay card after Bhutan and Singapore.
PM Modi was also honoured with the “The King Hamad Order of the Renaissance” on Saturday with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Modi took to Twitter and expressed his gratitude to Bahrain, “I humbly accept The King Hamad Order of the Renaissance. This is a recognition of India’s strong friendship with Bahrain, which goes back hundreds of years and is expanding rapidly in the 21st century.”
