Washington DC: The President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed that Al Qaeda leader and son of slain terror chief, Osama bin Laden, Hamza, has been killed by US security forces in a counter-terrorism operation. The confirmation comes after reports surfaced some weeks before that Hamza was killed in Afghanistan Pakistan region.
Donald Trump said, “Hamza bin Laden, the high-ranking Al Qaeda member and son of Osama bin Laden, was killed in a United States counter-terrorism operation in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region. The loss of Hamza bin Laden not only deprives Al Qaeda of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father, but undermines important operational activities of the group. Hamza bin Laden was responsible for planning and dealing with various terrorist groups.”
The US State Department had designated Hamza a global terrorist in 2017 after he pledged revenge attacks in Western Capitals for killing his father.
Hamza bin Laden is believed to be thirty years old and was with his father before the September terror attack on 11 September, 2001. He rose to the leadership of Al Qaeda after his father was killed by the US special forces in a daring attack at his hideout at Abbottabad in Pakistan.
The presence of Osama in Pakistan exposed the Islamic nation’s commitment to fight terrorism and support the Western countries war against terror.
