Tel Aviv: The Israel’s President, Reuven Rivlin, has invited Benjamin Netanyahu to form a government after the recent elections has led to a deadlock. The announcement came after the President met with Netanyahu and his rival Benny Gantz.
Reuven Rivlin has given 28 days to Netanyahu to form a government which could be extended to two more weeks. If Netanyahu fails to form a government by that time then the President can ask another to form a government.
The President is in favour of an unity government with Netanyahu’s Likud Party and Gantz’s Blue and White. However, the two sides are far from a compromise. The 17 September election resulted in a deadlock with no party having a clear majority.
