New York: Pakistan is facing a major embarrassment after taxis and trucks appeared on New York street protesting the atrocities of minorities in that country. The protests comes on a day when the Pakistani Prime Minister, Imran Khan, is to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Hundreds of taxicabs and mini-trucks carried digital advertisements highlighting the atrocities faced by minorities in the Islamic country. The protests were organized by a human rights group called Voice of Karachi. One ad says, ‘Pakistan: A country in denial of UN charter on Human rights.’
Chairman of Voice of Karachi, Nadeem Nusrat, exposed the double standards of Pakistan when it comes to human rights in Kashmir and their own record in protecting the minorities.
Nusrat said, “It is really shameful that Pakistan says India is against Muslims. Pakistan has literally curbed and created a hell for the religious minorities. While Pakistan talks about Kashmir, there are almost half a million Pakistanis who are still living in red cross camps in Bangladesh. It doesn’t make any sense what Pakistan talks about people living across the border but ignores its own people at the same time.”
He added, “We want Pakistan to treat all its ethnic and religious minorities with the dignity that they deserve I think it would be better for the Pakistan Prime Minister to fix his own home first before talking about other issues.”
The Voice of Karachi has also written to the Secretary General of UN, Antonio Guterres, about the state-sponsored atrocities committed by Pakistan against its vulnerable minorities.
News of kidnappings, rape, forced conversion, disappearances, and extra judicial killings are being coming out from Pakistan on a daily basis.
