Benghazi: U.S. forces on Friday conducted their third airstrike in southern Libya killing 17 suspected jihadists.
Earlier on Tuesday, the strike hit southwestern Libya, the U.S. Africa Command said in a statement, without giving the location. Two separate airstrikes had killed 19 suspected militants in southern Libya, the U.S. military had previously said.
Some of the Islamic State militants had lost its stronghold in the coastal city of Sirte in 2016 that led them to retreat south into Libya’s desert, stated Reuters.
Followed by which the United States said that it will not allow militants to use a conflict between eastern and western-based factions around the capital Tripoli to protect themselves.
