Jerusalem: Increasing the chances of another general election in Israel, Benjamin Nethanyahu’s opponent, Benny Gantz, informed the President that he failed to form a government by the midnight deadline.

Bennu Gantz, the leader of the centrist party Blue and White, said that he informed President Reuven Rivlin of his decision to return the mandate to form a government that the President had given him last month.

This could pave way for another general election, which would be the third election in a span of under one year. Israel held an election on 27 September, in which no party could garner enough seats in the 120 seat Parliament.

After Gantz admits his failure, the Jewish country will go into a 21-day period in which any lawmaker can form a government with a support of minimum 61 lawmakers. If the time is up then the country will move to another election.

Benjamin Nethanyahu, had earlier, failed to form the government even though he was supported by the large right wing party.

Benny Gantz accused Nethanyahu for refusing to form an unity government and said that it is a dangerous attempt to prevent people from having the government they voted for.
