Seoul: North Korean state media has reported that a “very important test took place at the Sohae Satellite launching Ground” on Saturday.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the test produced a “successful result” and was of “great significance” and that it will “change the strategic position of North Korea in the near the future.”
The development comes a day after the country said that the denuclearisation talks with the United Sates are off the table.
Earlier this month, North Korea had indirectly warned that it would send the US a “Christmas gift”, but the final outcome will be known after the ongoing talks between Washington and Pyongyan.
The nuclear negotiations between the US and North Korea came to a halt since the Hanoi summit between President Donald Trump and leader Kim broke up in February.
