Baghdad: Iraqi officials have informed that three rockets have landed near the U S embassy, a high security zone in Baghdad. The rockets hit near central Baghdad’s green zone, where government offices and diplomatic facilities are based.
Sirens could be heard across the zone soon after the rockets landed. No casualties reported and no one has taken the responsibility of the incident yet.
The tensions in the region has been escalated after the killing of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard’s elite Quds Force’s chief Qasem Soleimani earlier this month. Soleimani was killed on January 3, in an American drone strike at Baghdad International Airport.
Amid escalated tension, this fresh rocket attack may worsen the situation, experts opined.
